I know this may seem random. It took me courage to write this story on my blog, but here it goes. Everyone makes mistakes. I made a boo boo when my three year old brother nearly drowned....
i was impatient when my mom told me to watch Luke. It was a hot day, and I was waiting for my friend and her family to come over after they went to the beach. I sighed and, after watching him for a few minutes, decided I could leave him for a sec. As a brainless, skinny, 70 lb blonde, I found a quiet place near Luke where I was sure I could here anything he was doing, and started my daily daydreaming. I was wrong. Luke gave up blowing bubbles with my sister and went over to our above ground pool. Reaching for a toy, he plunged into the deep, wicked, mocking water.....for how long he was there, I will never know. Anyway, about fifteen minutes later, i heard the screams of a woman. My mom. Luke! It registered. I hadn't been listening! I heard no sound from where he had been sitting w/ my sister. OH, NO! My mom raced out from the deck where I was. She was screaming and crying, and, falling on her knees, helplessly began to pray. I stared, gaping at her. WHAT HAD I DONE? The next thing I know I heard a baby crying, and my mom ran from the deck. In her place stood her friend, Kelly. She was talking on the phone with 911. She ran down the path. In HER place now stood my best friend, Sarah. Her eyes were wide, and now I put it together. Luke must have fallen in the pool!!!! Shaken, I started to cry. I cried and cried. Being so young, I was scared at the sight of the ambulance, police cars, and fire trucks. Turned out, the baby crying was Luke. The amazing truth is, my dad's friend, Mr. Coats, (Sarah's dad) , had driven up JUST as my eight year old brother Carter drew the heavy, blue baby from the bottom of the pool. He had done CPR. Nothing. Again. Nothing. Finally, he cried out to God and asked for help. Again. Luke started throwing up, breathing, and crying! I was ten years old when this happened. Barely ten. Just turned ten. Luke is fine. The doctors thought he might have some retardation after such an escape, but he did not! OMW! WHAT A GOD WE SERVE! I still praise him today as I'm a teenager for what he did. Actually, my mom had told me it worked out for good. God used that insedent to strengthen and mold my parents. He used it to teach me to be careful. He used it to teach Carter about strength from God. everyone learned something. I guess it did work out for good. still, I wouldn't want to do it over!
